260/9 OLD MODS’ 1st XI vs Church Fenton 169/10

Match Type: Wetherby League - Division 1
Result: Mods Win - 6 Points

MODS' REMAIN TOP WITH FENTON DEMOLITION

Top against bottom was always likely to yield a big win for the home side but things could have been rather different without Jimmy Baker's 167 (16 fours & 12 sixes). Even then it required stubborn batting from Joe Kent (33) adding 117 for the 8th wicket to pull Mods' round from 141-7. Twenty minutes in the company of Andy Sutcliffe (18) had already rescued us from 96-6. 271-9 was a highly satisfactory outcome. Church Fenton's reply was in tatters within 8 overs as opening bowlers Shaun Delaney and Tom Ripley plunged them to 31-4. Only Chris Parsloe (77 n.o.) and Tom Dean (23), adding 53 for the 10th wicket, caused any real problems for the Mods. Under 15 player, Tom Dean, had earlier left the field during his 5th over after being hit, by the ball, in the mouth so fair play to the young fella for his 35 minute knock at the end.

Mods' Batting: Jimmy Baker 167, Joe Kent 33, Andy Sutcliffe 18, Steve Clapham 12, James Walker 11.

Bowling: Shaun Delaney 3-47 off 10, Tom Ripley 1-35 off 6, Matt Walker 2-38 off 8, Jimm Baker 3-38 off 9

Fielding: Jimmy Baker (2 catches) S. Swain, J. Walker & Joe Kent (1 apiece).
