121/2 OLD MODS’ 1st XI vs Sicklinghall 119/10

Match Type: Wetherby League - Division 1
Result: Mods Win - 6 Points

MODs' march on

6 points wrapped up in three hour mauling of Sicklinghall. Steve Fisher put up exciting resistance for the visitors blasting eleven boundaries in his 47 in 36 balls but that was it really. Stuart Borrill led the attack with 4-43 in 14 and Shaun Delaney 3-43 in 14 was chief support. Assistance came from Matt Walker 1-12 off 3 and Jimmy "Leave the rabbits for me" Baker 2-3 in 2.5 overs. Jimmy is the first past the 30 wicket mark this season. Well done JB, 31 league wickets so far. In reply, Steve Clapham & James Walker ensured victory was pretty much in the bag with an opening volley of 71 in 45 minutes. James made 20 and Steve 46, thus ending Pup's run drought good and proper. Jimmy Baker (35 n.o.) and Paul Rainford (13 n.o.) saw us home with nearly 35 overs to spare.

Plenty of candidates for man of the match: Stu with his 4 wickets, including 3 of the front line batsmen, Jimmy with 2 wickets, 35 runs & a catch but my personal choice today is Steve "Puppy" Clapham for his confidence restoring, match winning 46 at the top of the order, oh, and a catch.
